FAQs

How are your shade options different to shade sails and marquees?

Our Shade Tops are the middle sections of a marquee, but since they do not need the sides or ends attached, they are quicker to erect and therefore cheaper for you to hire, as opposed to a full marquee. Our Shade Tops not only provide shade from the sun but they are waterproof.

How long does it take for you to assemble?

Our 9m x 9m Shade Top takes two people less than one hour to assemble and requires 8 ground pegs. In comparison, the 9m x 9m marquee takes about two hours to assemble and requires 20 ground pegs.

Can I assemble it myself?

Yes …
Our price list has six shade tops (up to 7m x 10m) and six marquees (up to 11m x 11m) which are available for clients to erect and dismantle. Larger sizes are available to other hire companies and people who have had prior experience with building large marquees.

Is there a cost for delivery and collection?

Yes …
We charge a fee for local deliveries and pickups. However customer erect jobs are often delivered and collected free of charge.

Do you service outside the Canberra area?

Yes …
We deliver to Regional areas and the South Coast. Charges do apply, however clients can negotiate to dismantle and return our marquees and shade tops to save the pick up cost, providing they are dry.

How long can I hire the shade for?

Our rates are based on a weekend use and extended hire past three days is negotiable on a sliding scale. Marquees and shade tops are often erected well before an event where possible, but unless an extended hire is negotiated, the timing remains our decision. A written quote is always supplied.

Can wind be a problem?

Yes …
However, our shade tops and marquees will stay up in winds which would normally cause a function to be cancelled. Our shade tops have been tested and stand up well in gale-force winds because the wind flows through without restriction.

Marquees do need extra tying down during bad weather and are serviced by us at no extra cost to the client. This may involve fitting a guy rope from the top of each centre pole to the ground, anchored by pegs, trees or even a motor vehicle. This is to prevent ‘lift’ caused by the wind. A large marquee acts like an aeroplane wing in wind. It will blow up, rather than down. Our Centre poles are equipped with plates and pins on top to prevent this happening in light to medium winds.

What size marquee would I need to seat 100 guests at round tables?

Our price list includes seating capacities. From the price list you can see we suggest a 9m x 12.8m marquee to seat 105 guests. Remember, this does not allow for a buffet table, dance floor or bar.
